You can view CGM values and trends on your Apple Watch and bolus using the Pump button without using your iPhone. Dexcom G7 can display CGM readings on your Apple Watch and Tandem system simultaneously and independent of each other.
Precaution:
Always pair the Dexcom G7 sensor with your Tandem system before pairing with the Dexcom G7 app and Apple Watch. The Tandem system communicates directly with the Dexcom G7 sensor to get CGM readings, and does not communicate with the Dexcom G7 app or Apple Watch. As a result, you may notice that, at times, the CGM readings displayed on your Tandem system may slightly differ from those displayed on your Dexcom G7 app or Apple Watch. When in doubt or if your CGM readings do not match your symptoms, measure your BG with a BG meter before making diabetes treatment decisions.
Control-IQ technology will continue to operate using readings that are sent directly to the pump. That means you can be confident that Control-IQ technology is operating with accurate readings, even if there is a delay on the Apple Watch display.
Note that Direct to Watch is not a required feature of the system.
To use Dexcom G7 Direct to Watch, you must have an Apple Watch 6 or later model, running watch OS 10 or later, iPhone running iOS 17, and Dexcom G7 app version 2.2.1 or later.
