The Dexcom G7 sensor is indicated to be worn up to 10 days, plus an additional 12-hour Grace Period. When paired with your t:slim X2 insulin pump, your pump will alert you when your sensor is expiring soon.
The Sensor Expiring Soon screen shows at 24 hours remaining and 2 hours remaining.
You will also get a notification on your t:connect mobile app if notifications are enabled in app. All pump notifications must be cleared on the pump.
However, when the sensor expires, the sensor session enters a 12 hour Grace Period where CGM readings will continue. During this time, your sensor and Control-IQ technology work exactly as they did during your sensor session.
Once there are two hours remaining in the grace period, you’ll get an alert, letting you know to replace your sensor soon.
You will get another alert when there are 30 minutes left in your grace period.
If the Grace Period is over and you haven’t changed your sensor, you will get this alert letting you know new CGM readings will not be available until you start a new sensor. Without CGM readings, Control IQ technology will NOT adjust insulin delivery.
