Read the guide below for more information on how to get started on the t:connect Mobile App for iOS.
Smartphone Setup
Instructions for how to enable phone security and pump alerts on your smartphone, and how to disable automatic iOS updates, Low Power Mode, and Zoom Mode.
Enable Smartphone Security
1. Go to Settings.
2. Tap Passcode. This could be ‘Face ID & Passcode,’ or ‘Touch ID and Passcode’ depending on your phone model.
3. To view options for creating a password, tap Passcode Options. The most secure options are Custom Alphanumeric Code and Custom Numeric Code.
4. Turn on any of the options, then follow the onscreen instructions to complete set-up.
At least one of your smartphone’s security settings (e.g. Passcode, Touch ID® fingerprint security, Face ID® secure authentication) must be enabled in order to utilize the Bolus Delivery feature of the t:connect mobile app. If your security settings are not enabled, the t:connect app will automatically disable the Bolus Delivery feature.
Disable Automatic Updates
PRECAUTION: DO NOT update your iOS prior to confirming that it is compatible with the Bolus Delivery plus Display and Data Upload feature of the t:connect mobile app. If you update to an incompatible iOS version, you will lose the ability to request or cancel a bolus from the t:connect mobile app. See the Supported Devices listed in this guide for more information about compatibility.
1. Go to Settings.
2. Tap General.
3. Tap Software Update.
4. Tap Automatic Updates.
5. Set Install iOS Updates toggle to off.
To ensure the t:connect mobile app works as expected, it is recommended to disable automatic operating system updates on your smartphone. This only applies to major version updates. Minor iOS updates and security updates provided by the smartphone manufacturer can be installed at your discretion.

Enable Pump Alerts on Your Smartphone
1. Go to Settings.
2. Scroll down until you see the t:connect mobile app.
- Tap the t:connect mobile app.
- Tap Notifications.
- Customize your settings to your preferences.
- To choose when you want most notification previews to appear, tap Show Previews, then select an option.
- Always
- When Unlocked
- Never
You can also set a notification banner style, sound, and badges for many apps.
Make sure that notifications are enabled in the t:connect mobile app as well as in your smartphone settings.
1. From the t:connect mobile app Dashboard, tap Settings on the Navigation bar.
2. Tap Notification Settings to toggle push notifications on.
In order to receive your pump notification on your smartphone, you must enable notifications in your smartphone settings, and the t:connect mobile app must be open in the background. Notifications will include your pump alert text information and use the audible tones that you setup in your smartphone settings. If you set your notifications to silent, you will not receive an audible alert tone for your pump alerts and alarms on your smartphone.
PRECAUTION: We recommend that you keep notifications enabled on your smartphone to receive your pump alerts, alarms, and notifications.
Disable Low Power Mode
1. Go to Settings.
2. Tap Battery.
3. Set the Low Power Mode toggle to the “off” position.
The t:connect mobile app has not been designed to operate optimally with low power settings of your smartphone turned on. To ensure reliable use of the app, it is recommended that you do not use the Low Power Mode on your smartphone.
When the Low Power Mode is on, your smartphone battery will last longer before you need to charge it, but some features of the t:connect mobile app may not work as expected.
Disable Zoom Mode
1. Go to Settings.
2. Tap Accessibility.
3. Tap Zoom, then turn the Zoom toggle to the “off” position.
PRECAUTION: ALWAYS turn Zoom Mode off when using the t:connect mobile app. If your smartphone has Zoom Mode turned on you should rely on your pump for all therapy decisions.
More Info
The t:connect mobile app has not been designed to work optimally with the Zoom Mode setting, which magnifies the screen on your smartphone. Using Zoom Mode could cause parts of the t:connect mobile app to appear illegible and some features may not work as expected. To ensure reliable use, it is recommended that you do not use this feature on your smartphone.

WARNING: DO NOT use a phone that has been jailbroken or rooted. Data may become vulnerable if you install the t:connect mobile app on a phone that has been jailbroken, rooted, or uses an unreleased or pre-release operating system. Only download the t:connect mobile app on the App Store.
WARNING: ALWAYS rely on your pump to make therapy decisions when using a smartphone that is incompatible with the Bolus Delivery feature.

Check your iOS Version
1. Go to Settings.
2. Tap General.
3. Tap About.
The feature set available within the t:connect mobile app is dependent on your pump software version and the model and operating system (OS) of your smartphone.
- Display and Data Upload: This feature set provides a secondary display of your pump and continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) information, including display of your pump alerts and alarms, and enables wireless uploading of pump and CGM data to the Tandem cloud.
- Bolus Delivery plus Display and Data Upload: This feature set allows you to use the app as an alternate primary controller to request, stop, or cancel a bolus. The feature set also provides a secondary display of your pump and CGM information and enables wireless uploads of pump and CGM data to the Tandem cloud.
WARNING: ALWAYS rely on your pump to make therapy decisions when using a smartphone that is incompatible with the Bolus Delivery feature.
Pump Compatibility
Instructions for how to find your pump software version.
Find Your Pump Software Version
From your pump:
1. Tap Options.
2. Tap My Pump
3. Review Pump Info.
4. Tap the Down Arrow.
Compatible Pumps
- t:slim X2 pumps with software versions 6.3.1 and 7.3.1 (or newer) support the Display and Data Upload features.
- t:slim X2 pumps with software versions 6.6 and 7.6 (or newer) support the Bolus Delivery plus Display and Data Upload features.
If you do not have one of the compatible pump software versions listed above, you will not be able to pair your pump to your smartphone to utilize the t:connect mobile app. In-warranty customers can update their pump to the latest version of pump software. You can check to see if you are eligible for a pump software update by visiting our user portal.
Troubleshooting
Bolus Delivery Feature Not Available
If the Bolus Delivery feature is unavailable, your phone model, iOS, or pump software version might be incompatible with the feature.

Compatible Pumps
- t:slim X2 pumps with software versions 6.3.1 and 7.3.1 (or newer) support the Display and Data Upload features.
- t:slim X2 pumps with software versions 6.6 and 7.6 (or newer) support the Bolus Delivery plus Display and Data Upload features.
Restart Your App
Closing and restarting the t:connect mobile app can resolve many of the issues you might face.
When you close your app, it is no longer running in the background on your phone. This means that you will not receive pump alerts, alarms or malfunctions as notifications on your smartphone until you reopen your app. However, your pump will remain paired to your smartphone.
How to Close Your App
1. Double-tap the Home button, or swipe up from the bottom of the screen and hold (depending on your iPhone model).
2. Find the t:connect mobile app and swipe up to close.
After closing, or force quitting, the t:connect mobile app, reopen the app to check if the issue has been resolved. If the issue persists, try re-pairing the pump. If the problem persists after re-pairing, visit our support site to contact Tandem Diabetes support.
PRECAUTION: If you close, or force quit, your app it will no longer be running in the background. Keep your app running in the background so that important pump alerts, alarms and notifications can be displayed on your phone. These notifications are only received when the app is either active or open in the background.
Re-Pair Your App and Pump
You might need to unpair your pump from a smartphone for any reason, including for example:
- You replace your smartphone.
- Your pump is malfunctioning.
- You replace your pump.
- You do not have access to your pump.
You must unpair your previously paired pump from your t:connect mobile app before you can pair your new pump. Once you are logged in, your t:connect mobile app settings will be restored from the last time you synchronized with the Tandem cloud.
Unpair Using Your t:connect Mobile App
1. Tap Settings on the Navigation bar.
2. Tap Paired Pump.
3. Tap Unpair pump. A confirmation prompt will appear.
4. Tap Unpair.
Unpair Using Your Pump
1. Tap Options.
2. Tap Device Settings.
3. Tap Bluetooth Settings.
4. Tap the on/off toggle next to Mobile Connection and tap to confirm. Pair Device will disappear.
Remove Your Pump from Smartphone Settings
1. Go to Settings.
2. Tap Bluetooth.
3. Tap your pump.
4. Tap Forget this Device.
Once you have unpaired your smartphone from your pump, you can pair a different combination of phone and pump by following the steps in the t:connect mobile app.
Damaged Smartphone
If your smartphone is damaged or a significant portion of the smartphone display is damaged or does not illuminate, you should discontinue using the t:connect mobile app on that device and only use your pump for therapy decisions until you are able to fix or replace your phone.
